Wimbledon will follow the US and Aussie Opens in employing replay systems.
Replay technology will be launched at The Championships for the 2025 edition.
Players are granted the right to question specific decisions made by the official, following the practice already in use at both the American Grand Slam and the Australian Open.
This innovation will be operational on Centre Court and Court One for the duration of the tournament and on the other four show courts when they are hosting singles matches.
This development follows just a season following the All England Club implemented electronic line calling, which brought an end to the longstanding tradition of line judges.
Players will not be permitted to dispute the call of the electronic line calling, but are allowed to ask for the umpire to review other situations, such as:
Notably, there will be no limit on the amount of challenges a player can ask for.
A recent example took place in Indian Wells recently, where Daniil Medvedev used the review system against Jack Draper.
The British player conceded it was a difficult call for the umpire, but thought his opponent had "used the regulations quite well."
The umpire viewed a video and determined the player was guilty of hindrance, awarding the rally to Medvedev.
Video reviews are not new for Grand Slams. It was adopted at the American major since 2023 and the Australian Open since 2025.
Furthermore, it is increasingly prevalent on the WTA circuit, and by next season the ATP circuit plans to have the system implemented at every one of its events.
A further innovation at The Championships 2025 will be the introduction of graphical cues on scoreboards to complement the verbal announcements from the ELC system.
This solves instances where spectators have sometimes been unsure if a shot was out or in.
Finally, with exactly 100 days to go until the beginning of the Championships, organizers have also announced an increase in daily capacity at the qualifiers in the qualifying venue.
